The South Carolina Public Charter School District has announced Anna Hart of Greer Preparatory Academy as the District’s 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year, recognizing her outstanding commitment to students and her dedication to helping every child reach their full potential.
Selected from among exceptional educators across the District’s 59 schools serving more than 30,000 students statewide, Hart was recognized for the impact she makes both inside and outside the classroom through her belief in the potential of every student.
“Anna Hart represents what it means to put Kids First,” said Chris Neeley, Superintendent of the SC Public Charter School District. “She sees beyond labels, beyond data and beyond the moment to recognize the unique spark inside every child. Her ability to encourage, challenge and support students while refusing to give up on them is exactly what great teaching is all about.”
The District also recognized outgoing Teacher of the Year Sara Ellis of Fox Creek High School for her year of service representing educators across the statewide charter school community.
As 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year, Hart will serve as an ambassador for the District and its educators, helping spotlight the transformative work happening in public charter school classrooms across South Carolina.
“Every child walks into our schools hoping someone will see them, believe in them and help them become who they are meant to be,” Neeley said. “That someone is often a teacher like Anna Hart.”
